Great Job, Local 1 - Successful 20 Week Program

The 20 week program commenced on June 10th, 2013 and was completed October 25th, 2013. Nine students successfully completed the program that was held in the Sydport Industrial Park. The program is a result of the combined efforts of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local 1 Nova Scotia, the Active Partnership Strategy, Connections Career Centre, and the Unama’ki Economic Benefits Office. The curriculum that was being followed was an approved course that included safety training, shop sessions, theory, and on the job training with various contractors.

First off, BAC Local 1 Nova Scotia would like to thank Melanie Raymond, manager of the Active Partnership Strategy and Patricia Glode-Chisholm, manager of the Connections Career Centre for all their hard work and dedication. We would like to thank Allister Rudderham the instructor of the course and Clinton Martin who mentored the students, for all the time and effort they put into teaching the students the skills they will need to be successful in the bricklaying industry. We would also like to thank Alex Paul, Director of the Unama’ki Economic Benefits Office and all of the other people who worked alongside of Alex to make this program such a success.
